Platforms, versions and languages
Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter is a single game sold on four platforms: Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Windows (via Steam). Nothing is exclusive, and no version is missing content.
PLATFORMS AT A GLANCE (as read on 2026-09-18)
| Platform | Version sold | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Nintendo Switch | Standard Edition, physical and digital | Can be upgraded to the Switch 2 Edition with the $4.99 Upgrade Pack |
| Nintendo Switch 2 | Switch 2 Edition, physical and digital | The Switch 2 Edition physical release can also be played in a Switch 1 — resolution and frame rate follow the Switch build in that case |
| PlayStation 5 | Standard Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition | Physical Standard Edition exists for PS5 |
| Windows (Steam) | Standard Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition | Steam app 4225980; Steam Deck Verified |
THE $4.99 SWITCH 1 → SWITCH 2 UPGRADE Owners of the Switch version can buy a $4.99 Upgrade Pack rather than rebuying the game. Two consequences are worth reading before you buy:
- If you already own the Switch version, the cheapest path to the Switch 2 Edition is the Upgrade Pack, not a second purchase.
- If you are buying for the first time and own a Switch 2, the Switch 2 Edition at $64.99 is the version to buy; there is no need to buy the Switch version first.
LANGUAGES
Voice: English, Japanese. Screen text on the PlayStation Store listing: English, French (France), German, Spanish. The Steam store page language table lists eight languages:
| Language | Interface | Full audio | Subtitles |
|---|---|---|---|
| English | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Japanese | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| French | Yes | No | Yes |
| German | Yes | No | Yes |
| Spanish (Spain) | Yes | No | Yes |
| Simplified Chinese | Yes | No | Yes |
| Traditional Chinese | Yes | No | Yes |
| Korean | Yes | No | Yes |
Swipe the table to see every column.
Read that table the way it is written: only English and Japanese carry full audio. The other six languages are text-and-subtitles only. The PlayStation Store listing names a shorter screen-text list than Steam does, so if a specific language is essential to you, treat the list on the store you are actually buying from as the one that governs.
FEATURES COMMON TO ALL PLATFORMS
- Single-player, one player.
- Steam lists Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud, HDR, Family Sharing and full controller support; the game is Steam Deck Verified.
- The PlayStation Store listing states offline play is enabled and Remote Play is supported, and lists Vibration as supported on the PS5 version.
- ESRB rating: Teen (Blood, Fantasy Violence, Language, Simulated Gambling, Suggestive Themes, Use of Alcohol and Tobacco).
STORAGE
Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 each list 19.7 GB on the Nintendo store. No first-party install size has been published for the PS5 version or the PC build, so this page leaves those two blank rather than estimating them. See /system-requirements/ for the PC specification.
PUBLISHERS BY REGION
The game lists three publishers: Nihon Falcom, GungHo Online Entertainment America, and Clouded Leopard Entertainment. Reference material also records a separate European publisher for this release. We print the set of names we could read rather than assigning one name per region, because we could not read a first-party page that states the regional split.
