What are you actually trying to find out?

Three entry points, ordered the way the questions arrive in the first week after launch.

01

Buy it, or wait?

The two release dates, four platform versions, every edition price, and what each store actually sells you.

02

Play before you pay

The demo is free and runs about 10 hours. What it covers, and what it deliberately leaves out.

03

Don’t miss anything

Chapter order, missable Bracer quests, the 49 achievements, and where bonus BP actually comes from.

Coverage: 16 guide pages and four site pages are planned for launch. The walkthrough currently covers the Prologue through Chapter 2; Chapters 3–8 and the finale are open and will fill in as we verify each one. Nothing is listed on this page that we have not read a source for.

The game

What is Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter?

A turn-based Japanese RPG and the 2026 full remake of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC. You play a junior bracer in the Kingdom of Liberl: take requests from the guild board, travel between towns, fight with turn-based Crafts, S-Crafts and orbment Arts, and bank Bracer Points for the quests you clear along the way.

This is a remake and a separate product. GungHo’s announcement describes it as a full remake of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC, the 2006 game it is built from, and it ships as its own Steam app (4225980) with its own achievements and its own 2026 release date. It is also not Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, the separate 2025 remake of the first game: the two are sold independently, and a clear save from 1st Chapter only carries bonus items across.

It released in September 2026 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Windows. A free demo runs about ten hours, from the Prologue to the end of Chapter 1, and its save data carries into the full game — though a demo save transferred on PS5 does not award trophies. Steam lists 49 achievements, and the build we checked was Ver. 1.03.2.

Open questions

What we can’t confirm yet

Is Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter the same game as the 2006 Trails in the Sky SC?

No. It is a full remake of it rather than the same release. GungHo’s announcement describes it as a full remake of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC, and it ships as its own Steam app, 4225980, with its own achievements and a 2026 release date. The 2006 original is a separate listing with a different achievement list and a different save format.

Is Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter the same as Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter?

No — they are two different remakes of two different games. Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter is the 2025 remake of FC, the first game in the series; 2nd Chapter is the 2026 remake of SC, the second. They are sold as separate products with separate store pages. The only thing that crosses between them is save data: a 1st Chapter clear save can be read for bonus items, which is also what the free 2nd Chapter demo does.

Are the two release dates a mistake?

Unknown. The official site, the PlayStation Store, GungHo’s launch release, the Steam news post and Nintendo World Report’s review all say September 17, 2026, while the Released field on the Steam store page says Sep 16, 2026. We show both as published instead of picking one, because no source we could read states which value is correct. Change trigger a corrected storefront field or a publisher notice.

How much storage does each version need?

Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 each list 19.7 GB on the Nintendo store. No first-party figure is published for the PS5 version or for the PC build, so those two are left unfilled rather than estimated. Change trigger install sizes appearing on the PlayStation Store or the Steam page.
