Walkthrough: Prologue through Chapter 2
COVERAGE
This walkthrough covers the Prologue, Chapter 1 and Chapter 2. Chapters 3 to 8 and the finale are not written yet. Nothing below is extrapolated from the original 2006 game; if a step is here, it was read from a source for this release.
HOW THE ROUTE IS STRUCTURED
The game asks you to complete Bracer requests from a guild board, travel between towns, and hand the requests back in. Two things drive what you should do next:
- Main quests advance the chapter. They are the only steps that move the story.
- Bracer requests are taken from the board and rewarded with Bracer Points when completed and reported. A request you finish but never hand in earns nothing.
PROLOGUE — “A YOUNG GIRL’S DECISION”
Route:
- Complete the training course at Balstar Channel. This is where the game teaches the battle system. Clearing it is also a requirement for one of the 49 achievements.
- Work through General Training — worth 2 BP.
- Handle Midnight Attack — worth 3 BP, with an additional 11 BP available inside it.
- Report every request you accepted before the chapter closes.
BP choices in the Prologue:
| Location | Choice | BP |
|---|---|---|
| Saint-Croix Forest | “The mercenary assailants” | +2 |
| Le Locle Training Grounds | “Move to a new base” | +3 |
| Grimsel Fortress | “Call? There’s no need” | +2 |
Prologue main-quest BP total as recorded: 16.
PROLOGUE — THE BRANCH YOU SHOULD DECIDE DELIBERATELY
The Prologue also asks you to choose between Scherazard and Agate. The branch changes dialogue from that point, and per player-reported detail its consequences run through much of Chapter 3, with one side quest behaving differently on each route. Decide it once, with the knowledge that you are choosing a version of the early game — not a cosmetic swap.
PROLOGUE — THE THING PEOPLE MISS
There is a collectible book volume in the Prologue. Guide notes record that the window to take it free is small, and that a missed copy is usually purchasable later from a shop. Practical consequence: treat it as “take it now”, but a miss is recoverable, so do not restart over it.
CHAPTER 1 — “A LOOMING SHADOW”
Covered areas: Ruan, and the Mercia Orphanage. This is the chapter whose ending the free demo reaches; if you have played the demo, the demo’s save carries into the full game and you resume from here rather than replaying. Note that the demo is the Prologue plus Chapter 1, so the demo is longer than the Prologue alone.
CHAPTER 2 — “THE RAGING LAND”
Covered area: Ruan. Continue the same loop — take board requests, complete them, report them.
MISSABLE THINGS, STATED PLAINLY
- BP from dialogue choices. The Prologue has three. Others exist later in the game; we have not verified them for Chapters 2 onward, so they are not listed here.
- Unreported requests. BP is awarded on reporting, not on completion.
- The Prologue book. Small window, recoverable later at a cost.
- Fishing. Several fish are only obtainable in Chapter 8 at revisited locations, and one needs a specific rod bought elsewhere. Plan fishing as a late-game cleanup, not an early-game sweep.
- Chests and bestiary. Both are counted towards achievements and both are easy to miss piecemeal.
WHAT IS NOT COVERED
Chapters 3 to 8 and the finale, and the quest lists for those chapters. Our readable sources for this release stop at Chapter 2, and we would rather end the walkthrough than continue it with steps nobody verified for this version.
